THE OPEN ROAD

After playing seven of their last eight contests at home, the Wolves will play five of their next six games on the road, starting with a three-games-in-three-days set this weekend in Toronto and Cleveland; Chicago has notched a 4-7-0-0 record away from the Allstate Arena this year.

WOLVES HEADLINES

--- Tim Stapleton: Notched four points (G, 3A) in three games this week ... Paces the Wolves and shares second in the AHL with 12 goals in 25 games this season ... Ranks third on the Wolves with 18 points and leads the team with two short-handed markers and three power-play tallies

Jason Krog: Dished out two assists in his last two games after his season-high five-game point streak was snapped on Dec. 2; collected six assists and seven points during that span from Nov. 21 to Nov. 28. ... Paces the Wolves and shares second in the AHL with 21 assists and ranks first on the team and fifth in the league with 25 points in 23 games this year

--- Brett Sterling: Registered three points (2G, A) in three games this week, which includes his fourth multiple-point outing of the season on Dec. 2 ... Ranks second on the team and is tied for fifth in the AHL with 11 goals in 21 games this season ... Holds third on the team with nine assists and second with 20 points ... His four game-winning goals pace the Wolves and share second in the league

--- Chris Chelios: Potted his second career AHL goal on Friday ... Paces Wolves defensemen and shares fourth on the team with eight assists, and ranks sixth on the squad with 10 points in 17 outings this season ... Ranks second on the Wolves with a +9 plus/minus rating and has accrued a plus or even rating in 14 of his 17 games this season

WOLF TRACKS

--- Defenseman Arturs Kulda dished out an assist on Saturday in his return to the lineup after missing the last seven games due to injury; the 21-year-old blueliner has notched six points (2G, 4A) and paces the Wolves and shares fifth in the AHL with a +13 plus/minus rating in 16 games this year.

--- Chicago has allowed the fewest third-period markers of any AHL club, and is outscoring opponents, 25-12, in the final frame, which includes holding opponents scoreless in the third frame 14 times.

--- Center Rylan Kaip has recorded two points (G, A) in his last two contests; the 25-year-old center has posted five points (2G, 3A) in 23 games this season and has already eclipsed his point total in 42 outings during his professional debut last season (G, 2A).

--- The Wolves killed off all eight of Texas' power-play opportunities on Saturday, matching a season-high; Chicago ranks fourth in the league with an 89.5 efficiency rating on the penalty kill (94 of 105).

--- Chicago has potted a power-play goal in a season-high four straight games, posting a 29.4 efficiency rating on the man-advantage during that span (five of 17); the Wolves rank 17th in the league with a 14.7 rating on the power-play (15 of 102).

--- Wolves forward Rylan Kaip will visit the Barrington Library, 505 N Northwest Hwy, on Tue., Dec. 8, at 4:30 p.m., as part of the team's "Read to Succeed" program, presented by Vista Health System and Pace. Members of the squad will make more than 30 library visits throughout the Chicago area this season for the program, which has reached more than 500,000 children since its inception in 1995.

--- The Wolves jumped out to a two goal lead just 2:16 into the contest, but watched it slip away as the Texas Stars rallied to take a 5-3 victory at the Allstate Arena Saturday night
--- Forwards Rylan Kaip and Tim Stapleton and defenseman Steve McCarthy dented the net for Chicago
--- Goaltenders Peter Mannino (17 of 21) and Drew MacIntyre (four of four) split time between the pipes

Fri., Dec. 4
(at) Chicago 3, Lake Erie 2
--- Chicago cracked a 2-2 tie midway through the third period to earn a 3-2 win over the Lake Erie Monsters at the Allstate Arena
--- Johnny Pohl led the way with two points (G, A), while Chris Chelios and Brett Sterling also scored
--- Goaltender Drew MacIntyre made 29 saves on 31 shots

Wed., Dec. 2
(at) Rockford 3, Chicago 2
--- The Wolves were scoreless through 40 minutes before rallying with two goals in the third, but the Rockford IceHogs took the 3-2 victory at the Rockford MetroCentre
--- Defenseman Nathan Oystrick and left wing Brett Sterling scored for Chicago
--- Goaltender Peter Mannino stopped 27 shots in his first loss of the season
