Wolves Can't Reach Stars In 3-2 Overtime Loss

Defenseman Jaime Sifers and center Andre Deveaux scored for Chicago (38-28-4-6). Despite the overtime loss, the Wolves sit in fourth place in the West Division with 86 points, one point ahead of the Peoria Rivermen, who hold one game in hand, and the Oklahoma City Barons.

Texas (40-24-4-6) grabbed the 3-2 win 38 seconds into the extra period when defenseman Philip Larsen picked up a loose puck out of a scrum and blasted a shot past Chicago netminder Peter Mannino, top shelf.

After a scoreless first period, right wing Colton Sceviour made the score 1-0 in favor of Texas when the forward took a pass at the doorstep and flipped the puck over Mannino 2:52 into the second period.

The Stars pulled ahead to 2-0 with a power-play marker 15:56 into the middle frame when defenseman Maxime Fortunus found the loose puck in the paint and popped it into the net behind Mannino.

Mannino (16-16-4) kicked out 21 shots in regulation and overtime.

Chicago got on board, 2-1, with 2:26 left in the second period. Sifers skated into the slot, took a feed from center Riley Holzapfel and ripped a shot beating Texas goaltender Richard Bachman, glove side.

The Wolves evened the score, 2-2, with a power-play strike 3:43 into the third period when Deveaux dug the puck out of traffic in the crease and chipped it over Bachman.

Bachman (27-16-5) recorded 29 saves for Houston.

The Wolves face the Houston Aeros when they return to the Allstate Arena on Sat., April 2 at 7 p.m.
