The Atlanta Thrashers have assigned defenseman Boris Valabik to the Chicago Wolves.
The 24-year-old defenseman, who was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers with their first choice, 10th overall, in the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft, has competed in 80 career NHL games with Atlanta over parts of three seasons (2007 to 2010), notching seven assists and 210 penalty minutes.
The Nitra, Slovakia, native began his professional career with the Wolves and has collected 16 assists, 20 points and 444 penalty minutes in 125 AHL games with Chicago during parts of four seasons, which includes a six-game conditioning stint last year. He also skated in 32 career Calder Cup Playoff games with the Wolves, notching three goals, five assists and 108 penalty minutes, and was a member of the 2008 Calder Cup Championship team.
